A day in this role
You arrive on Sunday evening to lead the Maintenance Engineering Team supporting our complex IVD manufacturing lines. You review the preventive maintenance calendar, align parts and vendor support for an upcoming equipment upgrade, and coach a technician through a tricky automation fault. Later, you analyze OEE trends and map improvements to meet FDA, ISO, OSHA, and GMP expectations. By Tuesday night, performance reviews are complete, hiring actions are queued, and the factory is set up for reliability through the week—organized, compliant, and running at peak efficiency.
What you’ll lead
- Own the preventive maintenance (PM) program for manufacturing equipment: author PM procedures, schedule/coordinate PMs, major projects, and equipment upgrades; continuously refine the program to improve line efficiency and maintain department performance.
- Develop the team: provide performance appraisals, coaching, and counseling; resolve conflicts and administer disciplinary actions when necessary; manage staffing and headcount and coordinate hiring activities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve automation equipment issues in real time.
- Partner with vendors on equipment purchases; manage spare-parts usage and cost, implementing changes that improve reliability and efficiency.
- Ensure manufacturing areas and equipment reflect strong Good Housekeeping standards.
- Monitor equipment performance and drive continuous improvement of OEE and maintenance processes to meet Company, FDA, ISO, OSHA, and GMP requirements.
Where you’ll work
This position reports to the Maintenance Engineering Manager within our Engineering organization in Lodi, California. It is an on-site role. Schedule: Sunday to Tuesday, 5:00 p.m.–5:00 a.m., with alternating Saturdays.
What you bring
- High school diploma with 8 years of experience, or a bachelor’s degree with 5 years of related experience.
- Hands-on equipment background using hand tools and machine shop tooling.
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Visio.
- Experience with mechanical design concepts and production machinery: electrical, mechanical, and electromechanical schematics; motors, pumps, vacuum systems, and hydraulics.
- Strong technical equipment expertise with analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Background in maintenance or a technical field; coursework in supervisory and communication skills, Good Manufacturing Practices, cost accounting, product quality, and strong computer literacy.
- Knowledge of high‑volume World Class Manufacturing principles.
Physical requirements
- Lift up to 25 lbs; stand for several hours; perform repetitive arm/wrist motions.
