We are currently hiring a Safety Clerk in Demopolis, AL. This role is critical in supporting our Safety Department and Regional Safety Managers by maintaining and auditing safety records, assisting with compliance efforts, and ensuring our safety standards meet both company and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities of the Safety Clerk:
- Maintain and update driver qualification files and safety records
- Review driver files weekly for compliance and document progress
- Manage computer-based records for drivers, equipment, and inspections
- Track and notify staff of upcoming CDL, medical, and hazmat expirations
- Process safety-related purchase orders, invoices, and MVRs
- Prepare and distribute weekly safety performance reports
- File training records, audit reports, and maintain organized archives
- Complete DOT employment verifications and assist with safety projects
- Participate in an “on-call” rotation after completing training.
- Provide backup support for the Driver Applications Clerk as needed
Qualifications of the Safety Clerk:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience in safety, compliance, or transportation/logistics support roles strongly preferred
- Familiarity with DOT regulations, driver qualification files, motor vehicle reports (MVRs), and commercial driver’s license (CDL) requirements is highly desirable
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general office software; ability to learn industry-specific systems quickly
- Strong attention to detail with proven ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to review and interpret data, identify discrepancies, and coordinate timely follow-up with appropriate personnel
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
- Must pass a pre-employment background check and non-DOT drug screen
