Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during various dental procedures, including general dentistry
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies, maintaining aseptic technique and infection control standards
- Take dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed
- Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Dentrix, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Conduct vital signs assessments and medical documentation to support comprehensive patient care
- Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment adhering to infection control protocols and OSHA standards
Skills
- Proficiency with EMR systems like Dentrix for managing medical records and documentation
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dental procedures
- Experience with chairside assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry for efficiency and patient comfort
- Ability to operate X-ray machines safely while adhering to radiation safety guidelines
- Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices and caring for pediatric patients effectively
- Knowledge of infection control procedures, aseptic techniques, and sterilization processes
- Excellent communication skills to interact confidently with patients, team members, and external providers
- Ability to adapt quickly to new technology platforms like Dentrix for seamless workflow management
