Overview
Reporting to the Director of Digital Communications and Marketing, the Senior UI/UX Designer at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute will be a key player in creating visually stunning and intuitive user interfaces that resonate with our various audiences, including patients, caregivers, clinicians, researchers, and donors. The primary responsibility is to lead the UI/UX design process, utilizing expertise in design, visual communication, interaction design, user research, information architecture, and wireframing. The ideal candidate is a highly creative individual with a strong understanding of user-centered design principles and a passion for crafting engaging digital experiences.

This position's work location is fully remote with occasional time on-campus in [Boston, MA]. The selected candidate may only work remotely from a New England state (ME, VT, NH, MA, CT, RI).
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end UI/UX design process for various projects, from initial research and ideation to wireframing, prototyping, and final design implementation.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including stakeholders/requestors, front-end developers, back-end developers, and product managers, to translate business requirements into compelling user experiences.
- Conduct user research and usability testing to gain insights into user behavior and preferences and leverage these findings to inform the design process.
- Develop information architecture and create user flows that guide users through seamless interactions and achieve desired outcomes.
- Create visually appealing and cohesive designs, ensuring consistency in design elements, typography, and visual style across different platforms.
- Produce high-fidelity wireframes, interactive prototypes, and design mock-ups using industry-standard tools like Figma, to communicate design concepts effectively.
- Champion accessibility and inclusivity in design by adhering to WCAG guidelines and ensuring that the final designs are accessible to all users.
- Keep abreast of design trends, tools, and best practices, and propose innovative design solutions that push the boundaries of digital experiences.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather feedback and iterate on designs, ensuring alignment with project goals and client expectations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required
- 5 – 7 years of relevant UI/UX design experience required
- Basic understanding of digital analytics preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Proven expertise in UI/UX design with an impressive portfolio showcasing your expertise in design, interaction, and information architecture.
- Proficiency in using design tools like Figma to create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs.
- Solid understanding of user-centered design principles and best practices, with a focus on delivering exceptional user experiences.
- Experience conducting user research, usability testing, and applying insights to improve designs and user interactions.
- Strong visual communication skills with a keen eye for detail and the ability to create visually appealing and cohesive designs.
- Knowledge of web design principles and responsive design techniques to optimize user experiences across various devices.
- Familiarity with WCAG guidelines and accessibility best practices to ensure inclusive design.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and rationale to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with Agile Scrum methodology, including participating in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
