Freelance Event Photographer - Dan’s Papers
Dan’s Papers is seeking professional freelance photographers for fast-paced editorial event coverage across the East End, from Riverhead to Montauk. This is an on-site, assignment-based role covering a wide range of social, cultural, and community events.
Job Requirements:
- Strong experience in editorial and event photography
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently in fast-moving environments
- Consistent fast turnaround, as Dan’s Papers is a weekly publication
- Professional conduct and reliability at assigned events
- Ability to travel throughout the East End (local photographers preferred)
This role is ideal for someone with a genuine passion for photography, including college students looking for extra income or longtime Hamptons/East End residents who enjoy attending events and can cover them efficiently. Familiarity with the area — and, ideally, with some of the people and venues — is a strong plus.
Image Delivery Requirements:
- A minimum of 20 usable, publication-ready images per assignment
- Each image must include accurate names/captions identifying subjects
- Images must be sharp, well-lit, properly composed, and suitable for print and digital editorial use
- Coverage should include a mix of key moments, honorees, guests, and ambianc.
Compensation:
- Pay varies depending on the type and scope of the event
- Efficient photographers can typically get in and out quickly
$100-200 depending on the event.
