Diesel Technician Apprentice

Overview:

We maintain a diverse fleet of diesel, gas, hydraulic, and electric concrete cutting equipment and their transport/support vehicles. This is a fast-paced, high energy, and ever-changing dynamic. We are looking for someone to be a motivated person, capable of completing assigned work with minimal supervision and adequate direction. Must be comfortable working in a team environment, working collaboratively with other shop staff and management. We pride ourselves on allowing employees to flex their creative muscles to make repairs and modifications to equipment when it increases capability and durability. The right person will be on time, dressed for success, and willing to jump in wherever the need is that day.

Job Requirements:

• Adapts well to changing workflow and able to work flexible hours (Up to 50/week)
• Assist in maintaining shop housekeeping, facilities maintenance and groundskeeping, parts inventory and shop organization
• Report to Shop Foreman for daily tasks and effectively assist with group and solo projects
• Physically able to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, crawl for extended periods of time and able to lift, hold, carry weights in excess of 50 pounds with minimal or no assistance
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of vehicles, parts, and supplies needed for shop and field operations locally and state-wide.

Skill Requirements:

• Carrying out routine maintenance such as oil changes or battery testing and replacing worn parts
• Assist Senior Mechanics/Shop Foreman to diagnose, service, and repair various systems that are found on trucks, heavy equipment, and support equipment to include: mechanical and computer electronic controls, air brake systems, transmissions, and pneumatic systems
• Basic comprehension and familiarity of hydraulic systems. IE: diagnose physically evident concerns and perform tear-down and/or repair, perform system checks, reading and interpretation of schematics/diagrams.
• Entry level comprehension of DC electrical circuits and components. Able to carry out small repairs and procedures.

Types of Equipment:

• Walk-behind and ride-on slab saws (Husqvarna, Diamond Products) -Rotary screw compressors, pneumatic sealant supply systems, abrasive blasting equipment
• Various styles of hand-held cutting tools, electric/hydraulic/gas powered.)
• Small and large electric generators (diesel/gas)
• Light/Medium/Heavy duty trucks, box, stake, and open body (diesel/gas)

Minimum Qualifications:

• Any applicable experience in a repair shop setting and/or technical school education
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Pass a DOT Medical Card physical examination
• Basic hand tools would beneficial but not required for initial hire
• Negative drug test results
• Experience working with concrete cutting equipment preferred but not required!
