Description

The Senior Dental Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day operational execution and performance of the dental program across all Damian Family Care Centers (DFCC) sites. This role ensures standardized, efficient, and high-quality operations that align with DFCC’s mission operating within the confines of a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC).

The Senior Dental Administrator partners with clinical leadership, practice administrators, and central support teams to drive productivity, enhance patient access, ensure regulatory compliance, and support sustainable program growth. This position plays a critical role in optimizing workflows, improving patient experience, and achieving financial and operational targets across the dental service line.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee daily dental operations across all DFCC sites to ensure consistency, efficiency, and accountability
  • Standardize workflows, policies, and procedures across locations
  • Ensure consistent implementation of clinical and administrative protocols
  • Identify and resolve operational challenges in real time
  • Collaborate with Practice Administrators (PAs) and site leadership to ensure seamless operations
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), including patient volume, provider productivity, no-show rates, and revenue
  • Optimize provider scheduling templates to maximize access and efficiency
  • Develop and implement performance improvement plans for underperforming sites
  • Utilize data analytics to inform operational decisions and drive continuous improvement
  • Partner with Human Resources on recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies
  • Ensure appropriate staffing models and coverage across all sites
  • Supervise, coach, and develop dental administrative and operational staff
  • Support performance management processes, including evaluations and corrective action when necessary
  • Improve patient flow, throughput, and access to care
  • Implement strategies to reduce no-shows and cancellations
  • Ensure a consistent, high-quality patient experience across all sites
  • Address patient concerns and operational barriers impacting care delivery
  • Monitor site-level budgets, productivity, and financial performance
  • Align operational activities with organizational financial goals
  • Identify revenue opportunities and operational inefficiencies
  • Partner with billing and finance teams to oversee dental revenue cycle performance, including charge capture, claims submission, and collections
  • Ensure compliance with FQHC requirements, HRSA guidelines, New York State regulations, and OSHA standards
  • Support internal and external audits, including HRSA Operational Site Visits (OSVs)
  • Partner with QA/QI teams on quality improvement initiatives and reporting
  • Oversee credentialing and re-credentialing processes in collaboration with designated staff
  • Support expansion of dental services across new and existing sites
  • Assist in the implementation of new service lines (e.g., pediatrics, orthodontics, specialty care)
  • Ensure operational readiness for program launches, including staffing, workflows, and infrastructure
  • Participate in strategic planning initiatives related to dental services

Non-Essential Functions

  • Participate in committees, task forces, and organizational initiatives as assigned
  • Support cross-departmental projects and organizational priorities
  • Perform other duties as required to support DFCC operations

Requirements

Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive experience in dental or healthcare operations

Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Demonstrated ability to manage complex operations across multiple locations

Proficiency in data analysis and performance management

Knowledge of dental workflows, scheduling optimization, and revenue cycle processes

Familiarity with regulatory requirements (HRSA, NYS DOH, OSHA)

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team-building skills

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, Public Health, or related field preferred

Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.

Prior Multi-site Management Experience Strongly Preferred

Experience in an FQHC or community health setting highly desirable
