The primary responsibilities will be in the assessment, management, and coordination of care for individuals with mental, emotional and behavioral disorders.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The primary responsibilities will be in the assessment, management, and coordination of care for individuals with mental, emotional and behavioral disorders.
- Performs comprehensive psychiatric assessments in accordance with DFCC policy/procedure and APA guidelines.
- Provides consultative support for primary care and other specialty providers and serves as collaborating physician for psychiatric nurse practitioner staff.
- Utilizes and applies APA evidence based guidelines in the diagnosis, treatment and management of mental, emotional and behavioral disorders.
- Assesses patient’s mental health needs, sets goals; prescribes appropriate clinical interventions to meet those goals that reflect the physical, psychological, social, cultural and rehabilitative needs of the individual patient.
- Provides complete and appropriate documentation regarding clinical observations, diagnoses, treatment objectives, and patient’s response to treatment regimens. Utilizes an outcome-oriented approach to assess patient’s response to prescribed treatment regimens including medication.
- Appropriately utilizes information in the medical record that was obtained by other care providers to plan and coordinate care and treatment.
- Collaborates effectively with other health care providers in planning therapeutic interventions that will best meet the patient’s needs in a timely manner and promote the continuum of care.
- Identifies patient’s educational needs, and utilizes appropriate resources to meet these needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of accredited medical school and an approved residency program in psychiatry.
- Currently registered in New York State to practice as a physician.
- Board Certified or Board eligible in Psychiatry.
- Active DEA with DATA 2000 Waiver. Current life support certificate
- Eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare Program.
- Recent experience in an out-patient care setting and in diagnosing and treating mental disorders of the substance abusing; MICA population is strongly preferred.
- Familiar with electronic medical records.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Will meet all the credentialing requirements as stated in the Medical/Dental staff By-Laws and the credentialing processes of DFCC.
