POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Directing the clinical and administrative functions on the assigned nursing unit(s), outpatient or specialized area on a twenty-four (24) hour, seven (7) days a week basis. Accountable for the development, management and utilization of financial, material and human resources. Demonstrates strategic planning and effective leadership skills of delegation and organization. Must be able to perform jobs in all patient care and operational areas subject to reasonable accommodations. Must participate in the Respiratory Protection Program, which may include the wearing of a respirator. This is a non-union position.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Education required qualifying for license as a registered nurse. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or allied health field required or must obtain within 4 years of being hired into the position.
Experience: At least two years of nursing experience in an acute hospital with a minimum of one year's experience in a leadership role at the first line level.
Licenses/Certificates: Current California Registered Nurse License,
Current BLS Certification through AHA required,
Current ACLS Certification through AHA required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for directing the overall clinical and administrative functions on the assigned nursing unit(s), on a daily/weekly basis.
- Responsible for maintaining the hospital's patient care standards and the nursing services' philosophy through the delivery of quality nursing care.
- Identifies patient safety needs, develops and implements effective Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) monitors to provide a safe patient environment.
- Interviews and selects applicants for employment; assures appropriate orientation, teaching, supervision and evaluation of personnel on the nursing unit; initiates and follows through with appropriate disciplinary measures when warranted.
- Plans, implements and monitors staffing schedules in order to assure optimal patient care with assistance from staffing coordinators.
- Develops, implements and maintains a financial budget consistent with approved department goals and parameters.
- Establishes departmental strategic plan and annual goals; implements unit standards, objectives, priorities and facilitates change based on the needs of patients and their families, physicians and staff.
- Establishes and implements the departmental goals for the nursing staff in collaboration with the medical staff and other appropriate departments.
- Expeditiously handles staff, physician, patient, interdepartmental complaints and problems, providing accurate and timely follow-up and corrective action if needed.
- Maintains awareness and participates in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) to ensure a safe patient environment.
- Attends and actively participates in team conferences and staff meetings.
- Participates actively in orientation and on-the-job training of assigned personnel.
- Adheres to all Dameron Hospital Association policies and procedures including but not limited to, the hospital Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, safety rules, Joint Commission standards, Department of Health Services (DHS) regulations and any other regulatory agency.
- Provides methodology for dissemination of information providing opportunities for discussions of division problems, and orientation of new projects or procedures, as assigned.
- Performs all tasks demonstrating service excellence to both staff and customers.
- Demonstrates, supports, and models the mission, vision, values and code of conduct for Dameron Hospital Association.
