Duties
- Perform venipuncture and skin punctures to collect blood samples from patients of all ages with skill and care
- Ensure proper labeling, handling, and processing of specimens according to laboratory protocols
- Maintain strict aseptic technique to prevent contamination and ensure sample integrity
- Document all procedures accurately using medical terminology and laboratory documentation standards
- Assist with patient care activities by providing clear instructions and addressing patient concerns empathetically
- Support laboratory staff by preparing specimens for testing and ensuring timely delivery to the laboratory
Requirements
- Proven experience in laboratory procedures, techniques, or clinical laboratory settings
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and blood sampling techniques such as venipuncture
- Hands-on experience with specimen collection, processing, and maintaining specimen integrity
- Familiarity with hospital or healthcare environment protocols and patient service standards
- Strong understanding of laboratory safety practices including aseptic technique
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare team members
