The Dallastown Area School District seeks a Full-Time 10-Month Safety Monitor for our Secondary Campus who will assist in our mission to provide a safe, challenging, and relevant learning environment that inspires and creates pathways for student success. The ideal candidate will provide safety services to promote a safe and orderly environment conducive to learning for all students, faculty and staff members. Safety, security or law enforcement experience preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct routine inspections of the school building and grounds, correcting and/or reporting conditions and events that pose a threat to school safety.
• Confront and report behavior that represents a violation of school district policies and procedures and direct and/or escort offenders to the appropriate location and personnel.
• Maintain a working knowledge of the district policy manual and student handbook with regard to student behavior and expectations, students' rights and responsibilities, and personal property.
• Monitor student parking areas and enforce district directives with regard to the parking area to include controlling school bus and car traffic.
• Maintain awareness and be alert to irregular or unusual conditions or activities that may pose a safety hazard to school personnel or their property, unauthorized individuals in or on district property, and violations of the drug and alcohol laws.
• Escort visitors throughout the building.
• Assist in follow-up investigations by providing information such as video, as requested.
• Monitor the lobby and set up and monitor the cafeteria for all in-school suspensions.
• Assist with fire and other emergency drills.
• Maintain radio contact with office and other discipline staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.

Work Schedule / Pay Periods for 10-Month Positions:

• Full-day hours: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, which is 7.50 working hours and a 30-minute unpaid lunch period.
Your work schedule and pay will follow student attendance full and half days during the school year
• - approximately 177 student days mid-August through early June. Additional days may be arranged by your supervisor.
• While there are typically no pay periods July through August, you will enjoy summers off to spend more time with your family
• For a full school year, your bi-weekly pays will typically begin by mid-September and continue through late-June.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalency
• Completion and submission of all mandated pre-employment documents and information
• Such additions or alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable consistent with applicable Pennsylvania law, regulations and requirements of the Pennsylvania Department of Education
• Child-centered, warm, and receptive to children
• Ability to carry out oral and written communications/instructions and work cooperatively with others
• Acceptable record of attendance
