Classification: Non Exempt, Full-time

Benefits: Full Museum Benefits

Schedule: 10:45pm - 7:00am, with some flexibility

Payrate: $18/hour

Scope of Position:

This position is designed to provide security for the building, the loans and collections, as well as promote the safety of our staff, colleagues and visitors on an as-needed basis to cover absences of Control Room Security Supervisors. The Control Room Relief Supervisor will support the Dallas Museum of Art’s mission as a responsible steward of cultural heritage, as well, as a trusted advocate for the essential place of art in the lives of people locally and around the globe. The person in this role exemplifies the DMA’s vision, core values and strategic priorities.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Using the Equipment Tracking Form, issues and collects radios, keys and counters at the beginning and end of the work shift to Security staff.
  • Monitors keys that have been issued to Control Room Officers.
  • Assists the Visitor Services team with complaints from visitors.
  • Responds immediately to all emergencies.
  • Initiates standard Dallas Museum of Art procedures for emergencies.
  • Patrols all interior and exterior Museum spaces.
  • Supervises Security staff to ensure they are performing their duties on the floors, grounds and all Museum spaces.
  • Collects facts and eye-witness information for incidents occurring in the museum.
  • Writes incident reports regarding incidents occurring in the museum.
  • Delivers incident reports to the Director of Security.
  • Creates and promptly delivers Employee Injury/Accident Reports to Human Resources for Workers Compensation/Insurance claims management.
  • Works special events outside of normal museum operating hours.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Security Manager.

Requirements


Key Qualifications:

  • Ability to master knowledge and execution of DMA emergency response plans.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work with multicultural staff.
  • Ability to walk and climb stairs during the entire shift.
  • Possess sufficient eyesight with or without corrective vision
  • Possess sufficient hearing with or without corrective hearing devices.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate in English, fluency in Spanish desirable.
  • Must pass a stringent background check.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a current TX Level 1 & 2 guard license.
  • Good attendance history; able to work a flexible schedule as required including nights and weekends.

Education, Experience, and Certification:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • One (1) year of previous experience required; Museum security is preferred.
  • Prior experience in a Supervisory role/position required
  • Must have Department of Public Safety Levels 1 or 2 Licensing
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred
