Job Overview
The Account Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily accounting operations at DIU, including the accounting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable departments. This role includes direct supervision of accounting staff, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in all financial processes. In addition, the Account Supervisor plays a key role in guiding the university’s strategic financial decisions, making the position essential to the overall financial health and sustainability of the institution.
Responsibilities (ii)
- Oversee the daily financial operations of the university, including accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking, and bookkeeping, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.
- Supervise and provide leadership to the finance department staff, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Prepare and manage the university’s annual general budget, including budget establishment, control, and revisions, aligning financial planning with institutional goals.
- Deliver accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly and quarterly cash flow statements, forecasts, and performance dashboards, to executive leadership and the Board of Trustees.
- Support the VP of Business Administration in preparing board-level financial reports and ensure clarity and accuracy for high-level decision-making.
- Prepare and submit financial statements, annual reports, and IRS Form 990 filings for 501(c)(3) compliance.
- Coordinate and oversee annual audits, liaising with external auditors to ensure transparency and accountability.
- Attend senior staff meetings, university-wide events, and be available to the DIU community during scheduled hours and special occasions such as Faculty/Staff Forums, Inservice Days, and Commencement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree or CPA preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting, preferably in a higher education or nonprofit setting.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and IRS regulations for 501(c)(3) organizations.
- Proven ability to lead and supervise finance teams, with excellent interpersonal and team-building skills.
- Proficiency in financial software systems and Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems is a plus.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Commitment to the mission and values of the institution, with a high level of integrity and professionalism.
Hours
- Full-time. Normal hours are 9 am – 5 pm, Monday through Friday.
- Available after hours, for matters that arise, however, this happens very rarely.

Salary : $60,000
