Job Overview:
This caregiver position is for our childcare center on the campus of UT Dallas located at 800 W. Campbell Road Richardson, Texas 75080-3021.
The childcare services are available to parents who attend classes at UT Dallas during their class hours. Care is provided for children ages 4-11.
The childcare center is open from 3:30 to 10:00pm, Monday through Thursday during the time the on-campus courses are in session, as detailed on the university academic calendar.
Job duties include:
- Provide responsible care for children
- Treat all children with care and compassion
- Uphold all safety standards
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and orderly classroom
- Maintain a professional attitude, respecting family privacy at all times
- Provide enriching educational activities
- Lead songs and learning exercises
- Provide structure and accountability in a compassionate fashion
- Help children with toileting/diaper changes as needed
- Design and implement educational, age-appropriate activities
- Encourage children to participate in all activities
- Help children learn to be “helpers” in the classroom, as appropriate
- Contact parents as needed to address challenges
- Provide many opportunities for children to learn and develop age-appropriate skills
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications required
- Must be able to pass background check
- High school diploma or GED required, college degree is strongly preferred
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a professional childcare setting
- Must complete 8 hours minimum of Pre-service training before starting
- Must receive orientation to childcare center
- Exceptional patience and ability to remain calm at all times
- Excellent listening skills and an engaging demeanor
- Solid working knowledge of childhood development
- Creativity, compassion, and professionalism are a must
- Fun and enthusiastic attitude
- Physically able to perform tasks, including sitting on the floor, bending, and standing
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in early childcare or degree in childhood development preferred
