This position is responsible for welcoming visitors to the Dallas County Administrative building and assisting members of the public in finding the departments, offices, services, and/or programs they are seeking.

- Greet visitors and welcome them to the Dallas County Administration Building.
- Answer and route telephone calls, and assist walk-in visitors by directing or guiding visitors to their desired destination within the county building.
- Provide visitors with information and answer questions about the county building, including its departments, services, and hours of operation.
- Act in a friendly and professional manner when interacting with the public and co-workers.
- Open, sort, date-stamp and distribute mail and packages to the Treasurer's Office.
- Sort, organize and distribute mail to the appropriate department.
- Maintain a clean and orderly appearance of the reception area.
- Perform general clerical duties such as photocopying, filing, faxing, typing and completing forms.
- Act as the back-up to the Board of Supervisors Administrative Coordinator as needed.
- Work closely with the Dallas County Security team.
- Provide clerical and administrative assistance to other departments in the Administrative Building as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school Diploma or equivalent.
- One to two years office experience.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of county and departmental policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
- Ability to identify when a visitor may need assistance and read, interpret, explain and apply basic communications and customer service skills.
- Ability to complete clerical tasks while remaining attentive to visitors entering the building.
- Skill in prioritizing and organizing work.
- Skill in effective telephone and direct customer service to internal and external customers.
- Skill in the use of such office equipment as a computer, scanner, fax machine, and copier.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects.
- The work is typically performed in an office.
