Job Description
Handles high risk family violence cases providing information about the court process, punishment options, resources and referrals; provides counseling and court accompaniment; performs risk assessment and safety planning. Provides an understanding of the criminal justice process, increasing victim participation, awareness, and enhancing the victim’s satisfaction with the handling and outcome of the criminal cases. Assists in the application for a Protective Order.

Education, Experience and Training:
This position requires education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in a job related field of study.
Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Skilled in the use of standard software applications. Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public. Ability to effectively interact with the public and other staff while maintaining the confidentiality of victims who seek services.

Responsibilities
- Collaborates with District Court Judge, District Attorney staff, law enforcement, community supervision, and other involved community partners providing other forms of outreach to Family Violence victims and other parties.
- Maintains all demographic information, provide Crime Victims Compensation information, makes referral to crisis counseling, and other resources. Updates victim(s)/witnesses on case/trial status; maintaining contact with witnesses, agencies, victims and their families. May assist in obtaining location information for missing victims/witnesses.
- Creates safety plans for adult victims and families exposed to domestic violence.
- Serves as liaison between staff, management, other departments, law enforcement to facilitate interaction and flow of information to ensure goals, objectives and mission are communicated to staff. Serves as primary contact between parties including status of case(s)
- Establishes contact with victims and their families, and maintains contact through follow-up calls throughout the pendency of the cases and community supervision.
