- Manage infrastructure projects, including drafting/design, estimates, bid documents, and contract administration.
- Negotiate right-of-way acquisitions and prepare related documents.
- Perform construction inspection on grading, paving, bridges, culverts, and erosion control projects.
- Maintain project records and prepare reports.
- Coordinate department recordkeeping and assist public with document research.
- Lead and perform survey crew activities; maintain and purchase surveying/engineering equipment.
- Review engineering and surveying data for accuracy.
- Update and maintain inventory maps.
- Conduct PCC and HMA plant inspections.
- Train staff on equipment and safety procedures.
- Participate in department meetings and training.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- 1–3 years relevant experience.
- Ability to obtain Iowa DOT certifications (Aggregate, HMA, PCC).
- Valid Iowa driver’s license.
Required Knowledge & Skills
- Civil engineering principles for roads and bridges.
- DOT, FHWA, and National Bridge Inspection standards.
- Engineering design, surveying equipment, CAD, technical analysis.
- Strong communication, recordkeeping, and supervisory skills.
