SCOPE
The Music Office Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating initiatives set by the Director of the Dallas Music Office that promote and enhance Dallas' music scene. The role focuses on educational resources, collaboration, support for music venues, music education, partnerships with music-related businesses, marketing integration, and visitor resources. The Music Office Manager plays a crucial role in tracking and measuring the impact of music tourism on Dallas' economy.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Marketing: Create social media channels and the Dallas Music Office landing page to amplify local musicians and venue's music/events. Once developed/built, collaborate with local influencers or bloggers to feature Dallas' music scene in their content. Share online resources such as video tutorials, guides, and articles on topics relevant to musicians. Collaborate with Visit Dallas Marketing to incorporate local music scenes and events into broader marketing campaigns, highlighting the connection between music and other attractions, dining, and entertainment options in Dallas.
- Create Visitor Resources: Develop curated playlists showcasing local musicians and music genres. Share music event calendars highlighting upcoming concerts, festivals, and music-related events. Distribute these resources through Visit Dallas' website, visitor centers, hotels, and partner channels.
- Foster Collaboration: Work with the Music Committee and Director of the Music Office to organize networking events, mixers, and industry panels for musicians and industry professionals to connect.
- Support Music Venues: Collaborate with venue owners to cross-promote and amplify events and concerts. Host workshops or demonstrations at music venues to showcase products and services and facilitate networking opportunities between musicians and venues.
- Support Music-Related Businesses: Promote partnerships and initiatives that benefit musicians and businesses within the local music ecosystem through social media and marketing collaborations. Facilitate networking opportunities.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Foster Inclusive Representation: Strive for inclusivity and diversity within the music industry by actively endorsing musicians from various backgrounds, genres, and cultural contexts. Promote initiatives that offer equal opportunities and emphasize celebrating and recognizing diverse talent. Search for and feature musicians from various backgrounds, genres, and cultural heritages. Collaborate with organizations dedicated to uplifting underrepresented artists and communities.
- Educational Resources: Work with the Music Committee and Director of the Music Office to plan and host workshops, seminars, and masterclasses on various aspects of the music industry. Invite industry professionals as guest speakers to share their expertise. Collaborate with local colleges, universities, and music schools to extend invitations to their students.
- Measure the Impact: Work with the Director of the Music Office and collaborate with Visit Dallas to collect and analyze data on music tourism's economic impact. Conduct surveys and collect feedback from venues to gather economic impact data, e.g., hotel room nights, attendance, local spending, etc., during music-related periods. Compile and present data to demonstrate the significance of music tourism on Dallas' economy.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Music, Arts Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience in managing music-related programs or events.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong understanding of the local music scene and industry.
- Excellent communication and networking skills.
- Proficiency in event planning and digital marketing.
- Demonstrated ability to foster partnerships and collaborations.
- A commitment to promoting diversity and inclusivity through music industry marketing.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work is performed primarily in an office environment with hybrid option
- Attendance to events during nights and weekends at various venues required outside of the office
