The Dallas Center-Grimes School District is looking for dedicated professional to be a High School Science Teacher at DCG High School. Grades 9-12
SUMMARY:
The High School Science Teacher delivers standards-based instruction in scientific concepts, inquiry, and laboratory skills for students in grades 9–12. The teacher promotes scientific literacy, problem-solving, and critical thinking to prepare students for success in advanced coursework, postsecondary pathways, and STEM-related fields. The Science Teacher designs engaging lessons, evaluates student progress, and collaborates with colleagues to provide a safe, rigorous, and supportive learning environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan and deliver high-quality science instruction aligned with district curriculum, state standards, and best practices in secondary science education.
Teach scientific content in areas such as biology, chemistry, physics, earth science, or general science depending on course assignments.
Facilitate laboratory investigations that emphasize scientific inquiry, safety, and hands-on learning.
Prepare instructional materials, assessments, and learning resources that support student understanding of scientific concepts and practices.
Communicate regularly with students, families, teachers, and counselors regarding academic progress and classroom expectations.
Maintain accurate records of student achievement, attendance, and performance data.
Implement effective classroom management strategies that promote a positive learning environment.
Provide instructional accommodations and modifications as required by IEPs, 504 plans, or learning needs.
Integrate technology and digital tools to enhance instruction, data collection, and student engagement.
Support students during assessments, laboratory activities, and school-wide events as needed.
Participate in required meetings, professional development, and district trainings.
Promote and adhere to district policies, procedures, and professional standards of conduct.
EDUCATION & RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Science Education or a related science field required.
Experience teaching or working with high-school students is preferred.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, OR CERTIFICATIONS:
Criminal background check required.
State of Iowa teaching license with the appropriate Science endorsement(s) required.
