TITLE: Art Teacher (Anticipated for the 2026-2027 School Year)
REPORTS TO: Head of School and Principal
Position Overview
We are seeking a creative, visionary, and student-centered Art Teacher to join our Dallas Academy Team. The Art Teacher will design and facilitate engaging, hands-on art experiences that support students’ individual interests, emotional expression, and creative development. The ideal candidate embraces multi-sensory education models, values process over product, and fosters a safe, inclusive, and inspiring learning environment.
Performance Responsibilities:
1. Design and deliver developmentally appropriate art lessons for elementary through high school age students that are aligned with the school’s mission and include.
- Research-Based Best Practices in the field of Special Education
- Multi-Sensory and Multi-Modality instruction
o Project-Based instructional practices
2. Encourage creative exploration across a variety of mediums (drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, mixed media, print making and digital media).
- Support individualized learning paths and differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with learning differences including ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, and autism.
- Create a supportive, inclusive studio environment that emphasizes problem solving, critical thinking, self-expression, and building confidence.
- Assess student growth through observation, portfolios, and narrative feedback rather than traditional grading.
- Maintain art supplies, tools, and a safe, organized workspace as well as curate and display student artwork throughout the campus.
- Coordinate and lead the annual auction project, then guide students in creating auction-ready artwork.
- Collaborate with teaching and support staff.
- Participate in school events, exhibitions, and community projects.
- Communicate with parent(s)/guardian(s) regularly through conferences, phone calls, emails, progress reports and other means to discuss student progress.
- Enhance art exploration through experiential field trips and community art events.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or related field
- Valid Texas teaching certificate (preferred)
- Experience teaching elementary, middle, and/or high school students.
- Experience with project-based learning
- Experience with or strong interest in students with learning differences
- Proficient in using digital tools and technology for daily tasks and communication
- Strong classroom management skills
- Flexibility, patience, and creativity
- Ability to adapt lessons for varied learning styles and developmental levels
- Enthusiasm for working in a small, collaborative school environment
- Passion for nurturing creativity, confidence and independence in all learners
