What are the responsibilities and job description for the New Day - Mental Health Tech position at Dale Medical Center?
Dale Medical Center's New Day Behavioral Health Unit has Mental Health Technician positions available on various shifts. The MHT performs various care activities to care for the personal needs and comfort of the patient, as well as for the effective and efficient operation of the unit under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The responsibilities of the MHT include:
Assist RN in maintaining and managing a safe and therapeutic milieu for the patients.
Maintains line of sight supervision of assigned patients at all times. The MHT constantly walks the unit observing each patient in the common areas as well as his/her bedroom.
rovides care to patients in a manner that ensures patients' safety, protection of patient's rights, maximal patient comfort, and the optimal therapeutic environment.
Observes patient behavior and notifies unit nurse, therapist and other appropriate staff of pertinent information for action and documentation in the progress notes.
Assist patients with activities of daily living encouraging independent behavior when appropriate, including direct physical care of patient when necessary or as directed (i.e., feeding, bathing, dressing and ambulating.)
Remains in patient areas to assist patients and visitors.
Serves as a role model for patients by consistently displaying positive and appropriate attitude, behavior, language, attire and appearance, etc..
Assists with physical interventions with patients in response to required codes while under the direct supervision of the Unit Nurse or Unit Manager. (Must have completed CSI training.)
Documents patients' behaviors and activities according to established policies and guidelines.
Utilizes the Master Treatment Plan to determine the best intervention to use with a given patient.
Interactions with patients are goal-oriented and conducted in a professional manner.
This position is an "awake" position as the MHT must be attentive and alert at all times while on duty; therefore no sleeping is permitted while on duty.
1 Year hospital psych/MHT/CNA is preferred.
