About the Role
As a Camp Counselor, you’ll be a mentor, coach, and role model for campers of all ages and abilities. You’ll lead structured activities both on land and in the water, encourage teamwork, and help each child improve their swimming skills using the proven Daland Method.
Working alongside our Camp Director and leadership team, you’ll create a safe, supportive, and exciting environment where campers can learn, grow, and make lifelong memories.

What You’ll Do:
- Welcome campers, parents, and teammates with a friendly and approachable attitude
- Arrive 30 minutes before camp begins and stay 15 minutes after for setup and cleanup
- Lead and supervise structured activities on land and in the water
- Use the Daland Method and coaching principles to help campers improve their swimming skills
- Provide in-water and on-deck instruction, encouragement, and specific praise
- Foster a fun, safe, and inclusive environment for every camper
- Support fellow staff members and contribute to a positive team culture
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe camp area at all times
What We’re Looking For:
- Current Red Cross CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard Certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Commitment of at least 3 months
- Genuine enthusiasm for swimming and helping children achieve their potential
- Positive, energetic, and dependable attitude
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 years of competitive swimming experience
or
- 1 year of experience teaching swim lessons at Daland Swim School
