What are the responsibilities and job description for the Entry Level Safety Technician (FT) position at Dal-Tile Corp.?
2nd Shift : 3pm- 1130pm Monday through Friday
Primary Objective:
- Develops, coordinates, conducts and audits plant environmental, health and safety programs.
Major Function and Scope:
- Administers environmental programs to include water, air and waste requirements and regulations.
- Administers, organizes and conducts training programs for safety, including forklift certification. Conducts new employee orientation in connection with company goals and requirements.
- Investigates and tracks job injuries and lost workdays.
- Maintains OSHA log and administers workers compensation documentation, records and activity.
- Schedules and conducts training on hazardous communications, equipment operations, safety operations, and maintains related training records.
- Conducts hazard and safety assessments and maintains applicable records.
- Coordinates with Headquarters EHS Department to ensure compliance with all related governmental regulations and reporting requirements.
- Notifies Plant Manager and HR Manager on all aspects of facility safety, environmental and health issues.
- Prepares monthly presentations for staff, corporate, and employee meetings to review all safety and environmental issues and performance.
- Acts as back-up for human resources representative to include payroll processing and on boarding new employees.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Experience and Knowledge Required:
- Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 10 hrs. OSHA compliance training or equivalent.
- Knowledge and continual education of workers compensation compliance requirements and OSHA regulations and compliance procedures.
Competencies:
Core competencies include strong communication and training skills, conflict resolution, organization, data analysis and interpretation. Good computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
