Inventory Accounting Specialist
Dakota Mill & Grain, Inc. is a family-owned South Dakota Agribusiness Company headquartered in Rapid City, South Dakota. We are currently seeking an Inventory Accounting Specialist, who is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory costing in conformity with generally accepted accounting principles. This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Record merchandise inventory purchases in both Inventory and Accounts Payable subsidiary ledgers
- Verify invoice pricing against purchase orders and quotes
- Monitor and adjust the inventoriable cost of items based on purchase and/or manufacturing cost history
- Apply intercompany and external freight costs to inventory
- Calculate and apply vendor rebates
- Initiate electronic payment to vendors
- Setup and maintain system item codes
- Reconcile merchandise inventory subledger balances to the general ledger monthly
- Compile and distribute a variety of inventory and general accounting reports for management
- Assist with ad hoc accounting analysis and special projects
A Successful Candidate will possess the following:
- Associate degree in accounting and/or 3 years of accounting experience preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated proficiency with all Microsoft Office Suite products, with an emphasis on Excel
- Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and sound research skills
- Strong work ethic, with the ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize workload
Salary:
