Position Summary: The purchasing agent is responsible for sourcing, negotiating and procuring equipment, parts and materials necessary to support field service and project installations. This role ensures timely purchasing, cost-effective solutions, accurate inventory control and warehouse cleanliness to maintain operational efficiencies and exceptional customer service. The purchasing agent provides administrative support and must maintain a high level of communication within all departments.

Objectives: The Purchasing Agent focuses on driving cost-effective and efficient procurement by cultivating strong vendor relationships, placing timely and accurate orders, ensuring compliance with company standards, and supporting organized, well-coordinated warehouse operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Source and purchase parts, tools and materials in accordance with job requirements and inventory needs.
  • Coordinate with the service manager and technicians to ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Manage purchase orders, track shipments, and resolve delivery discrepancies.
  • Maintain and update vendor records, catalogs, and preferred vendor lists.
  • Monitor inventory levels and restock based on demands.
  • Manage returns, warranties and defective goods with suppliers.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient with procurement and inventory software.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong math and analytical skills for pricing and cost analysis.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with inventory control methods and warehouse processes.

Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of one year’s experience in purchasing or supply management, preferably in the agricultural industry.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Working Conditions: This position is primarily office based, with regular time spent in the warehouse coordinating materials and inventory. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones and printers. Standard Monday through Friday schedule, with occasional overtime based on workload or urgent requests. Occasional local travel to suppliers or job sites as needed.

Pay: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour
