Job Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or related field required.
• 2–3 years of professional experience in both writing and editing, ideally within Christian publishing, ministry, or education.
• Demonstrated passion for books and the craft of publishing.
• Proficiency in The Chicago Manual of Style and experience applying house style guides.
• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Acrobat, Photoshop).
• Knowledge of digital and print production processes, including proofreading, typesetting, and eBook conversion.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
• Understanding of content production workflows, quality assurance, and vendor coordination.
• Awareness of legal and ethical standards in publishing, including permissions and copyright compliance.
• Experience managing multiple projects under tight deadlines with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Understand how AI integrates into your position.

Job Responsibilities

1. Editorial & Production Management
   1. Assist Production Manager in overseeing the editorial workflow and production schedule from manuscript to final publication.
   2. Proofread final drafts for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and formatting errors.
   3. Prepare manuscripts and layouts for final publication in both print and digital formats.
   4. Conduct quality assurance checks before print and digital release.
   5. Manage revisions, reprints, and updates to published content.
2. Cross-Department Communication & Vendor Relations 
   1. Collaborate closely with design, editorial, and marketing teams to align visual and textual elements.
   2. Communicate effectively with printers, freelancers, and production vendors to maintain quality and schedule.
   3. Oversee permissions and ensure compliance with copyright and regulatory standards.
3. Innovation & Process Improvement
   1. Stay informed about publishing trends, tools, and best practices in Christian and trade publishing.
   2. Evaluate production workflows and suggest improvements for greater efficiency and quality.
   3. Contribute to maintaining and refining internal SOPs and style documentation.
4. Professional Growth & Mission Alignment
   1. Pursue professional development through workshops, training, and theological enrichment.
   2. Continually refine editorial craft to serve both theological depth and publishing excellence.
   3. Support the publisher’s mission and participate in departmental collaboration.
