EMT

The EMT responds to emergencies and treats employees that have been injured or are ill due to work-related incidents in designated facility. Supports the Health & Safety (H&S) Department to effectively identify, treat, investigate, and prevent occupational injuries and illnesses. Provides first responder training (AED, CPR, First Aid, etc.) per protocol. Manages daily support activities within a location.

Position Responsibilities May Include

• Provide emergency medical care to injured or ill persons
• Function within the scope of medical care as defined protocol and state, regional, and local regulatory agencies
• Follow medical protocols and Company procedures
• Prepare documentation and reports accurately and timely and maintain records (Injury treatment documentation, Employee Files, Incident Investigation Files, etc.)
• Train first responders as needed and provide support and guidance to first responders
• Coordinate and run audiometric testing requirements
• Ensure regulatory compliance
• Assist with H&S compliance audits
• Assist with incident investigations and required documentation
• Assist with post-incident case management
• May perform post-accident or reasonable cause drug and alcohol testing as needed
• Assists the Worker’s Compensation Administrator as required
• Maintain confidential information
• Continue to expand knowledge base of basic medical/legal principles
• Ensure personal well-being
• Perform additional projects/duties to support ongoing business needs

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of fundamental medical treatment concepts, practices and procedures as well as compliance requirements
• Positive, professional attitude, handling difficult customers with ability to diffuse negative situations
• Working knowledge of MS Office: Outlook, Word, Excel and database applications
• Proficient documentation skills
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy
• Effective organizational and time management skills

Experience

• 2–5 years of experience as an EMT
  
  

Education/Certification

• High school diploma or GED required
• State EMT Certification required

• The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
