Extrusion Technician

Summary / Objective:

The Extrusion Technician safely operates process equipment to produce either artifacts, powders or

pellets from fluoropolymer or polymer-based materials. This person will also utilize analytical

techniques such as MFR testers, DSC, and TGA to support the A5 scientists in testing extruded

products and/or troubleshooting product issues. This person is also responsible for the maintenance

and upkeep of critical polymer processing equipment in A5 such as extruders and molding machines.

This person will also support the A5 Lab and Safety Supervisor with day-to-day activities like shipping

and receiving materials and chemicals, inventory management, safety inspections, and 3S/5S

coordination activities.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required with 3 years relevant experience OR Associates degree

with 2-year relevant experience, OR 4-year degree with 0 years relevant experience.

• Essential experience and job requirements for extrusion operation.

• Approximately 2 years of experience in industry or manufacturing.

• Experience in chemical production operations (desirable).

Physical Demands:

• The role requires the ability to work within a chemistry laboratory environment and the challenges

that come with it.

• Ability to lift 50 lbs.

• Ability to wear full and half face respirator as needed.

• Ability to work on his/her feet all day.

Essential Functions:

• Prompt, regular, and dependable attendance is an essential function of this job.

• The primary role of this position is to provide extrusion support to scientists and engineers within

A5 Technical Center.

• Routine maintenance and upkeep of extrusion equipment and melt processable equipment.

• Give area support for capital project planning and installation of equipment for the Technical

Center.

• Oversee contractors ensuring compliance with all DAI Safe work procedures such as checking

scope of work, DAI Rep, proof of Safety training, walk down, work permit with related permitting,

and Safety checklist.

• Assist AT/LTs with lab equipment operation assuring Safe work for such operations as the wire

line and various extruders.

• Keep up with routine functions such as changing gas cylinders, general moving and organizing

of materials as needed to support laboratory readiness.

• Maintain certification for Safe lift truck and scissor lift operation.

• Additional assignments as deemed necessary by management.
