About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Hospice Medical Director to provide clinical leadership and medical oversight for our hospice program. This role is ideal for a physician who is passionate about end-of-life care, values interdisciplinary collaboration, and wants to make a lasting impact on patients and families.
As Medical Director, you will help ensure exceptional, patient-centered care while supporting our clinical team and upholding hospice best practices and regulatory standards.
What You’ll Do
Clinical Leadership & Oversight

Provide medical direction and oversight for hospice patient care in alignment with hospice philosophy and CMS regulations

Certify and recertify patient eligibility for hospice services by providing in-person assessments at the patient’s place of residence

Guide pain and symptom management to promote comfort, dignity, and quality of life

Serve as a clinical resource to hospice physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and the interdisciplinary team
Team Collaboration

Participate in interdisciplinary team (IDG) meetings and contribute medical insight to plans of care

Collaborate with attending physicians while respecting their primary role in patient care

Foster open communication and teamwork across disciplines
Quality & Compliance

Support quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) initiatives

Assist with development and review of clinical policies and protocols

Participate in survey readiness and regulatory reviews as needed
Education & Mentorship

Provide education and guidance to staff on hospice philosophy, symptom management, and end-of-life best practices

Serve as a clinical mentor and advocate for high-quality hospice care
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications

MD or DO from an accredited medical school
-
Active, unrestricted medical license in the state of practice

Board certified or board eligible
-
DEA registration (if applicable)

Experience or strong interest in hospice and palliative care
Preferred
-
Board certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine

Prior hospice medical director or hospice physician experience

Knowledge of CMS Hospice Conditions of Participation
Compensation
-
This position is compensated via a monthly stipend, commensurate with experience and scope of responsibilities
