Our client, a growing engineering consulting firm serving communities across the Upper Midwest, is seeking a Civil Engineer to join their team in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Job Description

In this role, you will support the planning, design, and execution of a wide range of municipal and infrastructure projects that directly impact local communities. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, clients, and external partners to deliver high-quality engineering solutions from initial concept through construction. This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of projects, build client relationships, and contribute to meaningful work that supports the growth and sustainability of rural and regional areas.

  • Provide professional civil engineering services across all phases of municipal projects, including design, planning, specifications, reporting, budgeting, permitting, and contract development
  • Develop scopes of work, schedules, cost estimates, and coordinate with contractors and consultants
  • Participate in design and construction meetings with clients, sub-consultants, contractors, and suppliers
  • Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation while ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget
  • Conduct periodic onsite observation during construction to ensure compliance with design specifications and resolve technical issues in collaboration with project teams
  • Maintain strong client relationships by providing regular updates, addressing concerns, and ensuring a positive project experience
  • Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to support continuous improvement and innovation

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or active progress toward licensure in South Dakota, Minnesota, or Iowa
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with clients
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines
  • Proficiency in engineering design software and Microsoft Office tools
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and coachable with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality work

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working on municipal, land development, or aviation-related projects
  • Passion for supporting rural communities through infrastructure development
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain long-term client relationships
  • Interest in continuous learning and contributing innovative ideas within a growing organization
