Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment station by sterilizing dental instruments, setting up necessary equipment, including 3D scanners and dental x-ray machines, and ensuring clinical supplies are stocked
- Take x-rays while adhering to HIPAA regulations and infection prevention protocols
- Record detailed medical and dental histories, update medical documentation, and ensure accurate medical coding for billing purposes
- Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care, and orthodontic appliance maintenance
- Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while managing medical records and ensuring compliance with healthcare infection control standards
Requirements
- Proven experience in dental assisting or orthodontic settings with knowledge of dental terminology and procedures
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Wave Ortho, Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for patient data management
- Strong understanding of infection prevention management, sterilization procedures, and aseptic techniques in a dental environment
- Competence in taking dental x-rays using dental equipment including 3D scanners
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages including parents
- Certification in X-ray technology or radiography is preferred; must adhere to clinical confidentiality policies and healthcare regulations
