The Work
We are looking for an experienced CNC Machinist with a background in CNC turning, CNC milling, or both to join our team in our Owatonna facility.
Our work includes a variety of custom parts, one-off projects, and production runs. This is a hands-on position where you'll be involved in setups, troubleshooting, and producing quality parts—not simply loading and unloading machines.
Responsibilities include:
- Set up and operate CNC lathes and/or CNC mills to produce precision parts
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, dimensions, and tolerances
- Select cutting tools, establish workholding, and set machine offsets
- Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, indicators, and other measuring equipment
- Monitor machining operations and make adjustments to maintain quality
- Troubleshoot tooling, setup, dimensional, and machining issues
- Make CNC program edits and adjustments at the machine as needed
- Work with other machinists to improve setups, cycle times, and manufacturing processes
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area
Qualifications
What we're looking for:
- Experience setting up and operating CNC lathes and/or CNC mills
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and blueprints
- Proficiency with precision measuring tools
- Understanding of cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and machining practices
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and work independently
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Experience that will set you apart but not required:
- Ability to both turn and mill CNC parts
- CNC programming experience, including creating programs from drawings or CAD models
- Experience with CAD/CAM software, particularly Fusion 360
- Experience with live tooling, sub-spindles, or multi-axis machining
- Experience improving machining processes, tooling, and cycle times
Formal machining education is helpful but not required. We value practical experience, problem-solving ability, and a willingness to learn.
