About the Role
The Data Analyst supports the Student Progression function within the Learning Studio by maintaining dae’s operational data systems, including the Student Information System (SIS), and transforming quantitative and qualitative data into meaningful insights that support student success and organizational effectiveness.
The role is responsible for maintaining accurate student and operational data, developing dashboards and reports, supporting assessments and surveys, and synthesizing qualitative and quantitative information to inform decision-making. Working closely with the Manager – Workforce Development & Analytics, the Data Analyst contributes to the organization’s reporting infrastructure, data quality, and continuous improvement efforts.

Responsibilities
Student Information Systems (SIS) & Data Administration
- Administer dae’s PowerSchool Student Information System (SIS), including end-of-year and start-of-year setup, school years, terms, semesters, and maintenance of accurate enrollment, attendance, grades, schedules, and demographic records.
- Process course schedule changes, including enrollments and withdrawals, and manage candidate application and enrollment workflows.
- Maintain dashboards tracking applicant eligibility, registration, enrollment, attendance, and related student information.
- Support state and local compliance reporting and manage user permissions in accordance with student privacy requirements, including FERPA.
Data Analysis & Insights
- Build and maintain dashboards and reports using PowerSchool, Excel, Google Sheets, Power BI, Tableau, or similar reporting platforms.
- Support the design, administration, and analysis of assessments and surveys, incorporating both quantitative measures and qualitative feedback.
- Conduct basic coding and thematic analysis of interviews, focus groups, and open-ended survey responses to identify trends and actionable insights.
- Analyze enrollment, attendance, performance, alumni, and program outcome data to support continuous improvement.
Data Integration, Documentation & Governance
- Prepare, clean, validate, and manage data imports and exports across organizational systems.
- Maintain documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), data definitions, naming conventions, and quality-control practices.
- Support organizational data governance and reporting standards.
- Collaborate with program staff and leadership to translate operational questions into meaningful reporting and analytical solutions.
Reporting & Organizational Support
- Produce recurring reports and dashboards supporting enrollment, attendance, student progression, workforce outcomes, and program performance.
- Develop visualizations and reporting materials supporting grants, fundraising, organizational planning, and leadership decision-making.
- When appropriate, combine internal organizational data with external labor market information to support proposals, partnerships, and organizational communications.
- Communicate analytical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications
Core Experience & Qualifications (Required)
Education
- Associate’s degree or higher in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Business Analytics, Education, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience
- Experience working with Student Information Systems (SIS), databases, or comparable information management systems.
- Experience cleaning, organizing, analyzing, and reporting quantitative data.
- Experience working with spreadsheets, reporting tools, and business intelligence platforms.
- Experience supporting data-driven decision-making in educational, nonprofit, workforce development, or similar environments preferred.
- Ability to work part-time and on-site at a dae campus as needed.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proficiency with SQL or other querying tools.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and data analysis techniques.
- Experience using Power BI, Tableau, Looker Studio, or similar business intelligence and data visualization platforms.
- Ability to work with both quantitative and qualitative data, including basic thematic analysis techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Knowledge of data documentation, governance, and quality-control practices.
- Ability to communicate technical findings to non-technical audiences.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred (Not Required)
- Experience administering PowerSchool or another Student Information System.
- Experience with survey platforms such as Typeform, SurveyMonkey, or Qualtrics.
- Experience using qualitative analysis software such as NVivo.
- Familiarity with FERPA and student data privacy requirements.
- Experience working with workforce or labor market datasets (O*NET, BLS, Lightcast, or similar).
- Experience in K-12 education, higher education, workforce development, or nonprofit learning environments.
