Duties
- Apply finishing techniques to concrete surfaces, including smoothing, troweling, and texturing to achieve desired finishes.
- Operate power tools and hand tools such as trowels, floats, edgers, and screeds to shape and refine concrete work.
- Install rebar and metal reinforcement according to schematics and blueprints to ensure structural integrity.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, schematics, and blueprints for accurate placement of concrete forms and finishes.
- Set up formwork using carpentry skills, including framing, trim carpentry, and metal stud framing for precise concrete shaping.
- Coordinate with other trades like masonry, plastering, roofing, and flooring installation to ensure seamless project progress.
- Perform heavy lifting tasks and operate heavy equipment such as concrete mixers, pumps, or other machinery safely on-site.
- Conduct surface preparation including caulking, stucco application, or masonry work as needed for restoration or renovation projects.
- Maintain safety standards by adhering to site protocols while performing tasks like heavy lifting or working at heights.
- Assist with construction estimating tasks when required by providing material estimates related to concrete finishing projects.
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials used in concrete finishing and related trades.
- Proven experience in construction site environments with the ability to read blueprints and schematics accurately.
- Skilled in rebar installation, form setting, plastering, stucco application, and masonry techniques.
- Proficient with hand tools such as trowels, floats, hammers; power tools including mixers and grinders; and heavy equipment operation.
- Knowledge of construction estimating processes for material needs and project planning.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during surface finishing tasks.
- Familiarity with welding techniques and metal stud framing is a plus for specialized projects.
