IT Architect

Overview: 

Our client is seeking a Solution Architect to provide strategic and technical leadership for a new initiative at client to create an API Marketplace Platform. This platform will leverage the existing Apigee API management platform and seek to either build a custom front-end solution or buy an off-the-shelf tool that can integrate with Apigee. The Solution Architect will be responsible for partnering with the product team to shape the features needed in the platform, defining the initial solution architecture and guiding the build vs. buy decision during a discovery period. After the discovery wraps-up, the Solution Architect will be responsible partnering with the product team to enable the platform build through mapping the solution architecture to design specifications and guiding development teams in implementing scalable and maintainable solutions. The goal of this team is to provide an internal API Marketplace that allows client API producers to make their services available and easily discoverable to client API consumers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architect and Design Solutions: Develop scalable and secure architecture for the API Marketplace platform, ensuring it meets evolving business and technical needs captured in the epics and features defined with a roadmap.
• Technology Leadership: Identify the technical work required to deliver architecture and partner with product team to create epics and features to capture the work.
• Technology Leadership: Provide guidance on best practices in API Platform Development.
• Technology Leadership: Provide guidance on best practices in API governance standards.
• Platform Development and Integration: Oversee the configuration, extension, and integration of the front-end solution with the existing Apigee API platform.
• Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with engineering teams and business stakeholders to align the API platform with broader enterprise initiatives
• Standards and Best Practices: Define and enforce development standards, security protocols, and architectural best practices.
• Performance Optimization & Scalability: Ensure the API platform is optimized for performance, scalability, and reliability.

• Mentorship & Technical Guidance: Support development teams in leveraging the above listed technologies, Google Cloud Platform, Azure, AWS, and Agile methodologies (Scrum).
• Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Develop and maintain architecture documentation, technical roadmaps, and governance models.

 
Required Qualifications: 

• 7 years of experience in solution architecture, software development, or enterprise data governance.
• Expertise in RESTful APIs, API Governance, and API platform development.
• Advanced experience with cloud architectures and microservices.
• Experience with Git, Azure DevOps, and Agile methodologies (Scrum).
• Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Google Apigee and Backstage.io.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
