JOB PURPOSE STATEMENT:
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our staff and students. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in a similar role and will be responsible for the overall upkeep of our facilities, ensuring they are always in excellent condition.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure spaces are prepared for the next day by taking out trash, tidying furniture and dusting surfaces
- Sweep and mop floors and vacuum carpets
- Wash and sanitize toilets, sinks and showers and restock disposables (e.g. soap)
- Wipe mirrors and windows
- Maintain outer premises by watering plants, mowing lawn, cleaning entrances
- Perform maintenance and minor repairs (replacing broken switches, fixing door handles, minor leaks etc.)
- Secure facilities after operating hours by locking doors, closing windows and setting up the alarm
- Empty trash and recycling bins
- Wipe down desks and surfaces
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors
- Clean whiteboards
- Clean and disinfect toilets, urinals, sinks, and countertops
- Remove any litter from hallways and common areas
- Keep entrances clean, including wiping down doors and windows, and sweeping/vacuuming walkways
- Check and restock supplies
- Change light bulbs
- Set up or take down furniture for special events
- Perform more thorough floor care, such as scrubbing hard floors and deep cleaning carpets
- Sanitize high-touch areas like doorknobs, handrails, and drinking fountains
- Wash all windows and glass partitions
- Strip and wax floors
- Conduct a thorough cleaning of all areas, which may include cleaning vents, light fixtures, and walls
- Mow lawns, weed, rake and water plants
- Shovel snow and salt walkways
- Assist with larger maintenance projects, such as painting walls or helping with minor maintenance issues
- Other duties as assigned by your Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven experience as custodian, janitor or in a similar role
- Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances
- Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components
- Familiarity with basic landscaping and handyman practices
- Attention to detail and conscientiousness
- Very good physical condition and strength
- Good work attendance
- Satisfactory completion of criminal background check
Pay: $14.00 per hour
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm
