What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Materia Handler position at DA Incorporated?
1. GENERAL FUNCTION
The Lead Material Handler is responsible for ensuring all workstations are adequately stocked with product, performing material changes, maintaining resin supply to molding machines, overseeing daily container breakdown activities, and performing additional duties as assigned by the Shift Supervisor. This position also serves as the lead across all three shifts, acting as the primary point of contact to support the closure of NCMRs (Non-Conformance Material Reject ), training and onboarding new associates, driving continuous process improvement initiatives, and ensuring consistent engagement, communication, and operational alignment across all shifts
2. JOB REQUIREMENTS
A. Will assist in set up scans for new job set ups and assist with scanning product at the end of the production day.
B. Responsible for preparing material for assigned shift and/or other shifts in accordance with the production schedule and supervisor.
C. Responsible for staging of material in dryers and maintaining drying material levels
D. Responsible for ensuring desired temperature setting on all material placed in dryers.
E. Material Handler will ensure all machines are adequately stocked with the proper resin each day to maintain production per the daily production schedule.
F. Responsible for raw material delivery to machines using portable white bins, Gaylord’s, bags, or other containers.
G. Perform material changes and cleaning of auxiliary equipment
H. Responsible for making sure all products, or containers in WIP Ques, and at each station are in FIFO order, and organized.
I. Responsible for mixing base material, colorant, and regrind using the material blender and manually.
J. Responsibilities are to make sure all molding machines are stocked properly with raw material according to the production schedule.
K. Responsible for removing raw material from machines (which includes trash) by the end of the shift.
L. Responsibilities include assisting with cleaning granulators, hoppers cleaning machines and areas around machine.
M. Follows all safety requirements when operating forklifts, and other material moving devices.
N. Responsible for delivering returnable containers to the machine areas.
O. Responsible for making sure all trash at each station is removed by the end of the shift.
P. Work with production supervisors and quality team to determine root cause for defects and quality concerns related to material handling
Q. Enforces safety protocols, maintains a clean and organized work area (5s), and addresses non-conforming materials
R. Directs and trains team members on material handling, safety protocols, and machine cleaning procedures.
S. Other miscellaneous duties as necessary.
3. QUALIFICATIONS
A. High School Diploma or GED preferred.
B. Must have adequate test scores on: Mechanical and Math tests.
C. Minimum of 1 year molding experience preferred.
D. Prior material handling experience preferred.
E. Strong communication, organizational and leadership skills
F. Pallet jack or fork lift experience is preferred.
4. PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES
A. Prior material handling experience preferred.
B. Pallet jack or fork lift experience is preferred.
C. Must be able to stand/walk greater than 7.5 hours a day.
D. Must be able to lift 60lbs.
E. Must be able to lift, bend, stoop push and pull frequently.
F. Must be able to wear safety shoes.
G. Must be able to wear hard hat.
H. Must be able to wear safety glasses.
I. Must be able to perform finger and hand dexterity 80% in a 7.5 hour day.
J. Ability and willingness to work overtime as required to support operational needs.
