Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and proactive General Maintenance Supervisor to oversee day-to-day maintenance operations at the DLA San Diego facility and coordinate maintenance activities across our manufacturing facilities. This role ensures compliance with government contract requirements, coordinates preventive and corrective maintenance activities, implementing effective maintenance strategies, and guarantees safe, efficient, and cost-effective facility operations. It requires a strong background in industrial maintenance, facilities management, and team supervision. Excellent management skills, technical expertise, and the ability to lead projects are essential for success in this position.
Responsibilities
- Supervision & Leadership
- Direct, schedule, and evaluate maintenance personnel.
- Assign tasks and monitor performance to meet contract standards.
- Provide training and enforce safety protocols.
- Maintenance Operations
- Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, grounds, etc.).
- Ensure timely response to work orders and service requests.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and inspections.
- Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure adherence to DLA, OSHA, EPA, and other federal/state/local regulations.
- Prepare reports, logs, and documentation required by the contract.
- Support audits and inspections by government representatives.
- Resource Management
- Manage tools, equipment, and materials inventory.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors as needed.
- Monitor budgetary and resource allocation for maintenance activities.
- Customer Service
- Serve as primary point of contact for facility maintenance issues.
- Communicate effectively with government stakeholders and contract managers.
Skills
- Proven management experience with a strong background in supervising technical teams in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Extensive knowledge of industrial maintenance practices including mechanical, electrical (high voltage and low voltage), and HVAC systems.
- Hands-on experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), Ohmmeters, and other diagnostic tools.
- Excellent leadership qualities with the ability to motivate teams, enforce safety protocols, and foster a collaborative work environment.
- Effective communication skills in English for clear reporting and documentation purposes.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry).
- Familiarity with government contracting requirements and facility compliance standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance if required by DLA.
Additional Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work under federal contract terms.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including emergency call-ins.
