General Summary

Reporting to the Manager of Grounds & Infrastructure Maintenance, and logistically coordinated by the Facilities Operations Coordinator; the Bus Driver safely transports students and employees utilizing Academy buses/vehicles.

 Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate Academy buses and vehicles to safely transport students and employees
• Attend all Safety Program training; comply with all Academy Safety Program policies and procedures while performing job duties, both on and off Academy property
• Attend professional development as needed to maintain current licensing and to learn new aspects of the trade.
• Work schedule may include working any day of the week and/or evenings as needed

Job Specifications

• Completion of 12 grade or equivalent
• 1-3 years’ experience driving buses preferred
• Valid Massachusetts Class B Driver’s License with Air Brake and Passenger Endorsements
• Successful completion/pass of required physical exams and ability to obtain updated DOT Medical Card
• Willing participation in DOT Drug/Alcohol Training and Testing Program
• Ability to perform repetitive motion tasks including driving
• Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends
• Possess good communication skills

Physical Demands

• Excellent visual acuity
• Ability to perform heavy work, exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 50 lbs. frequently, up to 20 lbs. constantly to move or carry objects
• Ability to occasionally climb and balance on stepladders
• Ability to frequently crouch, stoop, crawl, reach, push, pull and kneel
• Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time
• Ability to grasp and feel steering wheel and other equipment
• Ability to talk and hear community members to receive instruction and ability to hear emergency siren
• Ability to frequently perform repetitive motion tasks

 Working Conditions

·       Worker is frequently subject to outside environmental conditions including extreme cold (temperatures below 32°), and extreme heat (temperatures above 100°); consideration should be given to wind and humidity

·       Worker is frequently subject to noise

·       Worker is occasionally subject to vibration, oscillating movements of extremities or whole body

·       Worker is frequently subject to hazards and atmospheric conditions including moving vehicles, moving mechanical parts, fumes, odors and gases
