I'm looking for a Head of Electrical Engineering with 5 years of experience in electrical design in a professional environment and a background in high-growth aerospace or aviation startups. You should be comfortable owning the full lifecycle of electrical products from concept to flight qualification, including design, prototyping, and testing. A track record of applying first-principles thinking to power, filtering, logic, software/firmware, and/or production constraints is essential. Bonus points if you have familiarity with DO-160, MIL-STD, or other qualification and certification frameworks.

Work experience

• 5 years of experience in electrical design in a professional environment.
• Experience at high- growth aerospace/aviation startups (e. g. SpaceX, Anduril, Hadrian, Vast)
• Experience with flight hardware electrical design end- to- end.
• Proficient in electrical design, electrical schematic layout, component selection and simulation.
• Proficient with hands- on debugging using standard electrical lab equipment.
• Basic understanding of electrical requirements across domains (power, filtering, logic, software / firmware, RF, etc. )
• Familiarity with DO- 160, MIL- STD, or other qualification and certification frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to use first principles to challenge requirements.
• Ability to train others.
• Independent, creative, and thrives with minimal oversight.
• US Person according to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

What you'll do:

• Own design and prototyping of new electrical hardware, including schematic creation, electrical analysis, component selection, de-rating, and PCBA layout.
• Take full ownership of electrical design for flight hardware and rapidly iterate to finalize designs through bench testing and functional/development tests.
• Work closely with build and test engineers to ensure new designs are manufacturable and DFM feedback is implemented.
• Lead in developing design processes, assisting in standard PCBA layout, electrical simulation, and PLM development.
• Support subsidiary diligence and company development, determining opportunities for catalog expansion and subsidiary capabilities.
• Mentor early career electrical engineers and assist with recruiting to build the Avionics department.
