Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Construction Bookkeeper Construction role located in Rockville, MD. Experience in construction payroll, including previling wage scale projects, and certified payroll reporting is strongly preferred.
Key Resposibilities:
-Maintain day to day bookkeeping in Quickbooks(general ledger, reconciliations, and reporting).
-Process construction payroll, including prevailing wage/wage scale projects.
-Prepare and submit certified payroll reports(State and local public works).
-Handle accounts payable including vendor and subcontractor invoice processing.
-Coordinate payroll data and job information with field operations personel.
-Assist with compliance documentation(W-9, COI's, payroll records, audits).
-Support month-end close and coordination with external CPA/accountant.
The Construction Bookkeeper will also help maintain organized financial records, respond to internal and external inquiries, and contribute to improving accounting processes and controls.
Qualifications
-3 years bookkeeping experience, Construction industry strongly preferred.
-Proficiency with accounting software, specifically QuickBooks Desktop, and ability to adapt to additional construction-related financial systems.
-Ability to prepare, review, and interpret financial statements and management reports to support decision-making.
-Solid understanding of finance principles and experience with journal entries (accounting), month-end close, and audit support.
-Hands-on experience with certified payroll, prevailing wage requirements, and construction industry billing practices is strongly preferred.
-Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
-Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with project managers, field staff, and leadership.
-Familiarity with construction contracts, lien waivers, insurance certificates, and vendor compliance documentation is a plus.
Salary : $55,000 - $75,000
