The D1 Volleyball Sports Performance Coach is dedicated to training and improving the lives of D1’s members, with a specific focus on Scholastic (ages 7-18) and Collegiate volleyball athletes and teams. This role requires applying specialized knowledge to enhance the vertical jump, lateral speed, court explosiveness, and overall durability of volleyball players.
A D1 Coach must be dedicated to:
Category | Requirement/Preference | Detail Experience (Desired) | Collegiate Volleyball Experience | Required regardless of level (NAIA, JUCO, or NCAA) in a coaching, playing, or performance-related role.
Experience (Minimum) | Strength & Conditioning | Minimum of 1 year of strength & conditioning-related expertise in a group, team, or personal training setting.
Certification (Preferred) | USA Volleyball (USAV) / CAP | Preferred coaching certifications or specialized jump-training credentials.
Education | Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Science, or a related field (preferred). Any Bachelor's degree is accepted when paired with a collegiate sports background.
Safety (Required) | Safety Certifications | Must hold a valid AED/CPR/First Aid certification.

The D1 Volleyball Sports Performance Coach is dedicated to training and improving the lives of D1’s members, with a specific focus on Scholastic (ages 7-18) and Collegiate volleyball athletes and teams. This role requires applying specialized knowledge to enhance the vertical jump, lateral speed, court explosiveness, and overall durability of volleyball players.
A D1 Coach must be dedicated to:
- Exhibiting passion, expertise, high energy, a positive and motivating attitude, strong character, and over-the-top customer service.
- Implementing and instilling the D1 training philosophy into every workout, with a specialized understanding of volleyball-specific biomechanics (e.g., approach jumps, landing mechanics, and overhead rotation).
- Assessing and aligning each athlete with the proper program based on their position (Hitter, Libero, Setter), experience, and goals.
- Taking a personal stake in the lives of our athletes, maintaining regular contact and monitoring their individual progress toward their goals.
- Foster a positive, motivating environment for all athletes, especially within the context of high-intensity team training.
- Maximize client retention through best-in-class service: coaching, training, nutrition, and accountability.
- Modify and adapt movements that are best suited for the individual, tailoring programs to address the needs of various positions (e.g., explosive power for hitters vs. reactive agility for liberos).
- Reduce an athlete's risk of injury by focusing on proper landing mechanics, shoulder stability, and posterior chain strength critical for the sport of volleyball.
- Coach group workouts, specialized personal training sessions, and dedicated volleyball team training.
- Delivering accurate, industry-leading educational advice on strength, verticality, and nutrition tailored for peak volleyball performance.
- Starting and finishing workouts on time and maintaining a professional facility environment.
