Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses along designated routes, adhering to traffic laws and safety protocols
- Conduct thorough pre-trip inspections of the vehicle’s mechanical systems, brakes, lights, and safety equipment to ensure optimal condition
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and dispatchers using clear English skills to address questions or concerns
- Manage behavior on the bus through positive reinforcement and behavior management techniques to maintain a respectful environment
- Assist children with boarding and exiting the vehicle, providing childcare support as needed to ensure their safety and comfort
- Maintain accurate logs of routes, passenger counts, and any incidents during shifts for reporting purposes
- Respond promptly to emergencies or unexpected situations by following established safety procedures and coordinating with emergency responders when necessary
Experience
- 2 yrs experience in bus driving or commercial driving roles, preferably with school bus driving or working with children
- Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are highly valued for effective interaction with diverse communities
- Experience in behavior management or childcare is advantageous for handling young passengers responsibly
- Valid driver’s license appropriate for operating school buses or large vehicles; CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) Passenger and school bus endorsement mandatory.
- Demonstrated ability to work safely under pressure while maintaining excellent customer service standards
- Knowledge of local traffic laws, safety regulations, and best practices for transporting children or vulnerable populations
