Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and other commercial vehicles across designated routes.
- Load and unload freight using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or manual methods, ensuring cargo integrity and safety.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer to identify maintenance needs or safety issues.
- Follow planned routes accurately while adapting to traffic conditions and delivery schedules to optimize efficiency.
- Secure cargo properly to prevent shifting or damage during transit, especially when handling specialized freight like refrigerated goods or tankers.
- Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, deliveries, inspections, and any incidents in compliance with transportation regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery status, delays, or issues encountered on route.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a truck driver with a strong background in commercial driving and route delivery.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements relevant to the vehicle type (e.g., refrigerated trailer, tanker).
- Skilled in operating manual transmission trucks with proficiency in tractor-trailer handling.
- Experience driving various truck types including flatbed, tanker, dump truck, roll-off truck, or refrigerated trailers is preferred.
- Knowledge of load securing techniques and safety procedures for freight transport.
- Ability to perform routine vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks.
