What are the responsibilities and job description for the Service Engineer - AGV position at Dürr Systems Inc?
We have an exciting opportunity for an AGV Service Engineer to join our team! In this role, you'll be an integral part of our automation group - powering up Automated Guided Vehicles, AGVs, diagnose any problem areas (gears, reducers, motors, electrical, etc.), repairing, and preparing them for factory acceptance. This position offers hands-on technical work with advanced technology and requires extensive travel (85%)
What You'll Do
Installation & Commissioning
- Set up and configure AGV systems according to specifications.
- Perform system integration, start-up, commissioning, and testing to ensure proper functionality.
- Assist in launching and optimizing new equipment and systems.
Maintenance & Repair
- Conduct preventive maintenance on AGVs and associated infrastructure.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and software issues (gears, reducers, motors, PLCs, sensors, etc.).
- Execute inspections, planned maintenance, emergency service, and repairs.
Technical Support
- Provide on-site and remote support to customers.
- Document service activities, maintain accurate records, and provide recommended actions.
- Collect system performance data and mark up drawing changes.
Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company standards.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and customer requirements.
Customer & Team Engagement
- Represent Dürr professionally, promoting customer satisfaction and repeat business.
- Collaborate with engineers, operations staff, and project teams.
- Work independently on smaller projects or as part of a team on major installations.
What You Bring
- High School Diploma required; Associate degree or military/union technical experience preferred.
- 5 years of related experience.
- Strong foundation in electrical debugging and PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley).
- Ability to read AutoCAD drawings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; SAP knowledge a plus.
- Strong organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently or in a team and adapt to change.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Physical Demands:
- While performing duties of job, incumbent is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit, kneel, crawl; and use hands and arms.
- Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and distance vision.
- Employee must be able to fly and drive.
- Employee must be able to climb stairs and ladders, wearing appropriate fall protection as needed.
- Incumbent is required to work with and near equipment such as industrial fans, pumps, etc. in a manufacturing setting.
- They must also be able to operate motorized equipment such as a scissor lift or man lift.
