Position Summary
The Applications Engineer provides technical and logistical support to the Sales and Product teams in the development and technical content for customer quotations.
This position does not require supervisory duties
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Understand the technical content of a customer request for quote.
- Picture this technical content within the assigned Durr Systems LLC. product portfolio.
- Obtain fixed supplier quotes for major purchased components.
- Confirm / clarify the machine concept with engineering and consult with operational departments to determine budgets and machine scheduling from receipt of purchase order to installation and customer start of production.
- Support other global Durr Systems LLC divisions by providing sales support/liaison services as required to support global business opportunities.
- Complete detailed machine sub-assembly Bills of Material and feasibility reviews with engineering for detailed machine content.
- Prepares estimates with budget costs for new machine technology and/or rework.
- Complete detailed machine proposal and content description of engineering and build based upon customer and Durr Systems LLC machine specifications.
- Submit completed proposal package for review, prior to customer required submission. Submit completed "Concept Feasibility" evaluations and TOR with all proposal packages.
- Provide technical support to Product Line Managers.
- Participate in customer line-ups, review and critique Product Line Managers notes and customer specifications.
- Together with PLM, submit complete package for order acceptance evaluation
- Prepare supporting documents including update to proposal and estimate to reflect "as sold" for the internal KOM and assist in conducting sales turnover meeting with support of the assigned Project Manager.
- Provide all applications engineering related resources (part prints, customer and account management, correspondence) to PM.
- Support all operational departments with all available information out of application process.
- Together with PLM and BAP headquarter Applications Engineering and Product Line Management, define a modular product system which pictures the requirements of the NA marked.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Arts/Science Degree in Technical Discipline or equivalent machine specific experience in Mechanical Controls or Application Engineering.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong knowledge of computers and applicable software (AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Applications) plus a practical understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, physics, mathematics (algebra, geometry), electronic controls, instruments, computer engineering and mechanisms.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to read and interpret specifications (Part Prints, Geometric Tolerance etc.) contained within a standard automotive machine inquiry quote package.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and creative skill
Special Position Requirements
- Requires travel to customer or supplier as required. May include overseas travel.
- Requires ability to travel by air.
