As the Produce Manager you will be responsible for the overall performance of the Produce Department. You will manage the daily output production, and display of department product. You will focus on reducing costs, hiring, and training new employees. You will also be supervising, monitoring product quality and consistency, tracking inventory, and managing department budget. You will evaluate department conditions and operations to determine strengths and areas of improvement, reinforce strengths, and develop improved practices and procedures. You will ensure correct ordering, receiving, unloading, storage, and stock rotation. The Produce Manager is also responsible for managing department inventory, in stocks, pricing integrity, merchandising, labor, and other operational processes to D’Onofrio’s standards. In the role of Produce Manager, you plan and order according to company standards to maximize sales and gross profit. You will be responsible for writing the weekly AD for the department. You will hire, supervise, train, and develop your team members. You will be responsible for writing the weekly schedule for your department, maintaining established budget hours and staffing according to business needs. This is a full-time position, working a minimum of 40 hours per week primarily day light hours. The schedule is subject to change with business needs, you may be expected to work overtime hours. Qualifications:
· Previous management experience, preferably in a retail produce department.
· Previous customer service experience, ability to provide excellent service and set example for staff.
· Previous experience and familiarity with produce.
· Experience and knowledge with managing a budget and understanding of shrink and cost controls.
· Ability to manage a team of associates with a high degree of integrity and respect.
· Ability to grow department sales and profits.
· Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and lift up to 40 lbs. regularly, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
· Ability to work in varying temperatures.
· Ability to stand for long periods of time. Typical shift is 8 hours, depending on business needs.
· Adaptable to changing needs of the business.
Job Function:
· Provide leadership to staff, setting clear expectations and holding the team accountable.
· Build sales and profits, excellent follow through at department level.
· Ordering product efficiently to ensure timely use and reduce shrink levels.
· Provide highest quality service and product to our store patrons.
· Profit and loss responsibility including shrink and related cost controls.
· Train all department associates in our standards of merchandising, quality control, sanitation, safety, sales plan execution, and allowable shrink.
· Interviewing potential employees for department positions.
· Monitor competition and provide feedback and recommendations to the President.
· Maintain the highest level of store sanitation, health, and safety.
· Maintain the highest level of honesty and integrity.
· Greet all customers and provide them with prompt, courteous service and assistance.
· Use and maintain company equipment in good working order.
· Performs all duties in accordance with Local, State, Federal regulations as they pertain to Produce Operations.
· Performs all duties in accordance with Company rules, policies, safety requirements, and security standards and all Local, State, and Federal health and civil code regulations.
· Perform duties in accordance with hand washing standards and use disposable gloves when handling food.
· Possibly Unload Truck
Pay: $10.00 - $17.00 per hour
