Responsibilities
- Manage the complete payroll cycle, including data entry, processing, and distribution of payroll for all employees using systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, or UltiPro.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment and labor laws, including tax law regulations related to payroll taxes and labor standards.
- Reconcile payroll accounts regularly through detailed analysis of spreadsheets, general ledger accounts, and accounting software like QuickBooks or PeopleSoft.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information while handling payroll data entry and processing tasks accurately.
- Collaborate with HRIS teams to troubleshoot payroll system issues and implement updates or improvements in Kronos, Ceridian, or other time & attendance systems.
- Prepare detailed reports on payroll expenses, tax filings, and audit documentation for internal review and external compliance purposes.
- Support audit processes by providing necessary documentation related to payroll tax filings, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience managing payroll systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, Kronos, UltiPro, or Ceridian with a strong understanding of technical payroll support.
- Solid background in corporate accounting or finance with expertise in general ledger reconciliation, double entry bookkeeping, and journal entries.
- Knowledge of employment & labor law as well as payroll tax regulations to ensure full compliance across all jurisdictions.
- Proficiency in spreadsheets (Excel), accounting software (QuickBooks or similar), and HRIS platforms; experience with governmental accounting is a plus.
- Strong analysis skills with the ability to perform account reconciliation and identify discrepancies efficiently.
- Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy (10 key typing) combined with a detail-oriented approach to handling confidential information.
- Familiarity with time & attendance systems like Kronos or equivalent workforce management tools is highly desirable.
