What are the responsibilities and job description for the Logistics/Yard Supervisor position at D & L Supply Company?
Job Purpose: Maintains inventory and supplies by receiving, storing, and delivering products; loading trucks; securing warehouse; supervising staff; overseeing branch safety programs.
Job Duties:
· Accomplishes all shipping operations to clients, vendors and D&L Branches effectively and efficiently as defined within our cost budgeting with an eye on meeting sales goals while operating within our core values.
· Verifies accuracy of loads coming in from our vendors to receive into our inventory within our accepted procedures and . Accomplishes this through utilization of team members to assure accuracy.
· Accomplishes cost-effect utilization of third-party trucking companies to assure profitable, safe, efficient trucking that meets customer requirements and requested time-lines while meeting profitability goals.
· Works directly with account managers and regional account managers to meet on-time delivery commitments for clients
· Coordinates all scheduling and confirming to clients of deliveries via truck load and LTL carriers. Provides accurate paperwork to clients to receive in our material.
· Develops profitable and efficient LTL relationships with Common Carries. Gains knowledge and implements use efficient lanes for each carrier partner. Communicates with sales on all shipping activities. Secures, schedules and coordinates all LTL activity.
· Gathers all POD's (proof of deliveries)
· Accomplishes shop human resource objectives by selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising job contributions; recommending compensation actions; adhering to policies and procedures.
· Demands the highest standards in safety performance.
· Meets shop operational standards by contributing shop and yard information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying shop system improvements.
· Meets shop financial standards by providing annual budget information; monitoring expenditures; identifying variances; implementing corrective actions.
· Moves inventory by scheduling materials to be moved to and from the shop; coordinating inventory transfers with related departments.
· Delivers supplies and equipment to departments by receiving and transferring items.
· Maintains storage area by organizing yard space; adhering to storage design principles; recommending improvements.
· Maintains inventory by conducting weekly cycle counts; reconciling variances; inputting data.
· Secures shop by taking measures to prevent loss and theft.
· Keeps equipment operating by enforcing operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; requiring preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
· Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
· Accomplishes shop and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
· Order and maintain inventory levels for all packing and shipping materials
· Other duties as assigned.

Pay: $ $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
