Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and personable Cashier to join our retail team at Rio Rande City and Roma locations. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service while efficiently handling retail sales transactions. This role requires a professional with strong communication skills, proficiency in POS (Point of Sale) systems, and experience in grocery or retail environments. The cashier will play a vital role in ensuring smooth store operations, accurate cash handling, and fostering positive customer interactions. Bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve a diverse clientele effectively.

Duties

• Operate POS systems accurately to process retail sales transactions, including cash, credit, and digital payments
• Handle cash register operations with precision, including cash drawer handling and balancing at shift end
• Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and assisting with product inquiries
• Conduct product demos when applicable to enhance customer engagement and promote sales
• Upsell products and suggest additional items to maximize sales opportunities
• Stock shelves and maintain organized displays to ensure product availability and visual appeal
• Assist with inventory management tasks such as stocking, merchandising, and inventory counts
• Maintain professional phone etiquette when addressing customer inquiries or coordinating store activities
• Support supervising staff by overseeing daily cashier operations and ensuring adherence to store policies
• Facilitate retail sales transactions efficiently while maintaining accuracy in retail math calculations

Experience

• Prior experience in retail sales or grocery store environments is preferred
• Demonstrated proficiency with POS systems and cash register operations
• Supervising experience is advantageous for leadership responsibilities
• Familiarity with retail math, cash handling procedures, and merchandising techniques
• Experience conducting product demos and upselling to enhance sales performance
• Strong communication skills in bilingual settings to serve diverse customer bases effectively
• Knowledge of grocery store or retail product knowledge is a plus
• Ability to perform basic math accurately under pressure and handle cash drawer reconciliation confidently
